Career Tips: How to Find a Job You Love

How to find a job you love

Are you doing something you love? Have you found a job you love? If you haven’t already, here is an article to guide you on how to find a job you love.

In a 2016 Gallup survey, only one out of eight workers have a committed interest in their jobs.

So it is highly likely that you are unhappy at work and are wondering what to do next.

You may consider quitting.

But before you do, why don’t you take a step back and consider the following three methods on how to find the job and stay with the company you will love.

1. Be honest with yourself

The better you understand yourself, the more you’ll know what you truly need.

Wants such as a good salary, attractive benefits and incentives will provide you with short-term gratifications.

However, they will not fulfil your passion in the long run.

To truly understand yourself, you must first be wholly truthful and answer any questions, no matter how difficult they are.

Take the Myers-Briggs test and the Holland Code to understand your personality and assess your strengths and weaknesses honestly.

The results can be remarkably eye-opening and helpful to find a job.

2. Dare to dream

Instead of fitting your lifestyle around your career, why not dare to choose the job that will fulfil your life ambitions?

The world is continually changing.

Lessons of yesteryears, such as achieving success through hard work, honesty is the best policy, and following your passion, are still relevant.

There are ways that you can make your life’s goals without having to trudge through the usual channels.

Work hard but work smart too.

It is not what you know, but who you know that matters.

Dare to be different, and you will soon carve out a niche for yourself that is not only profitable but satisfying as well.

Use this one checklist to track your career needs and progression in your job hunting.

3. Ask for help

Never be afraid to ask for help.

Having an objective opinion about your current situation will help you view matters from a different perspective.

It might just be what you need to have a breakthrough.

Seek help from an experienced and reputable Executive Life Coach and spend some time with friends and family who will help you decide what your real priorities are and reflect your genuine self.

Don’t be afraid to admit that you may have made mistakes with your past career choices.

Although it may be a difficult journey, finding work that you genuinely love is, in itself, the most rewarding experience you can gift yourself and your loved ones.
