As the Regional Director of Business Development for a Contract Logistics Service Provider, you will play a critical role in driving the growth and success of the company across Southeast Asia. You will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, cultivating strategic partnerships, and expanding the company’s client base within the contract logistics industry. This role requires a strong combination of sales expertise, industry knowledge, and leadership skills to effectively position the company as a leading service provider.
- Business Development Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to drive growth and achieve revenue targets. Identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive intelligence to shape the company’s offerings and positioning in the contract logistics industry.
- New Business Acquisition: Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the region by proactively prospecting and generating leads. Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential clients through targeted networking, industry events, and leveraging existing industry contacts.
- Client Relationship Management: Establish and nurture strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within target organizations. Understand their business challenges, objectives, and requirements, and position the company’s contract logistics solutions as the ideal fit. Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, offering tailored solutions that address their unique needs.
- Proposal Development and Contract Negotiation: Lead the development of compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches that demonstrate the value proposition of the company’s contract logistics services. Collaborate with internal teams within the countries to ensure proposals align with operational capabilities and profitability goals. Negotiate contracts and pricing terms to maximize revenue while ensuring mutual benefit for both the company and clients.
- Competitive Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging market opportunities. Conduct regular analysis and benchmarking of competitors’ offerings, pricing, and positioning to identify strategic differentiators and areas for improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams, including operations, finance, marketing, and legal, to ensure seamless execution of business development strategies. Provide market insights and feedback to help shape product development, pricing strategies, and marketing campaigns.
- Leadership and Team Management: Build and lead a high-performing matrix business development team in each country. Set clear goals, provide coaching and mentoring, and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
What It Takes
- Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven track record of success in business development and sales within the contract logistics or third-party logistics (3PL) industry.
- Strong knowledge of the contract logistics industry, including market trends, key players, and customer needs.
- Demonstrated experience in generating new business and expanding client relationships.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Strategic thinking and ability to translate market insights into actionable business strategies.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Results-driven mindset with a focus on achieving revenue targets and business growth.
- Ability to work collaboratively across different teams and departments.
- Willingness to travel as required to meet clients, attend industry events, and explore new market opportunities.
